Believe in people

I am working for this giant S/W Company. One of its major clients requires all new joinees to its project to have background check. Unless the back ground check is cleared, the company cannot assign its employee to this client's projects.

I have been working with this client for around 6 odd years. During that time the background check was not required. I recently moved to new location for the same project I have been working all along. The new policy says if there is any change in project/location then BGC need to be done again. Though it looks extremely stupid, I understand that if a person got out of the project and joined back after a long time this clause make sense.

In my case the poor insane souls, sitting there naming themselves as security leads (security guard may be appropriate!), want me to go through the BGC procedure before I touch any system in the new location. I would have happily said yes, but before that I asked how long will it take to complete? The reply was, minimum two weeks. Come on I say, for God sake, I will forget what I was working on by then!

I wonder, don't they know this already before sending me to the new location? Can't they start the process when I was in old location itself? I asked them, if they can do it in parallel while am working on the project. The answer was as expected a no. I told them I am working for the same client for more than 6 yrs and you have all records for that, I never took any break from this client to work for another, moreover you already did BGC once last year when the policy changed so why don't you allocate me a pc and do other formalities in parallel. It took them sometime to come back and say they couldn't find the BGC documents. I now wonder what good the BGC holds if they lose it! How will it matter whether they do it or not if they can't retrieve the information back?

This company boasts itself of becoming one among the Global top companies. If, by chance, they ever become one and was awarded a certificate by the governing body saying its numero uno company in the world and by chance, they lose the certificate (given the above scenario it is quite possible!). I wonder, if they are going to work from scratch to again become global no 1 company!!!!!!

Hey if that happens, am I supposed to be proud of being part of a Global number 1 company? Remember the company doesn't evaluate a person based on what he did to the organization nor how long he worked all it cares is some electronic document, which the security lead was not able to retrieve!

Height of all, this organization’s marketing strategy says if you want to be a part of an organization that believes in its people, please walk in with your CV!!!!

I have a BGC that I want you to undergo before we meet or talk over the phone again...it will take minimum four years !!!
Four years man...four years of escape from this....S-W-E-E-T !!!

BTW, dude, I also noticed that your blog itself mandates that I identify myself before posting a comment here. That, in itself, is another form of BGC, you hypocrite !

I feel so good now !!!

Every time you post without identifying.. I should wait till you complete and clear out all you typed and ask you to type again after identification. If you try to be smart by copying what you type and paste it after you identify.. The computer should kick your butt and ask u to type again! you probably might understand the pain then!
